Derby County 1-1 West Bromwich Albion: Slaven Bilic sent off in draw at Pride Park

Kenneth Zohore has now scored two goals in his past two games for West Brom this season

A late Kenneth Zohore spot-kick rescued a point for West Bromwich Albion at Derby County, in a game that saw three penalties awarded and Baggies boss Slaven Bilic sent off.

Derby opened the scoring through Martyn Waghorn's penalty in the fourth minute after the striker was brought down by Kieran Gibbs.

The hosts were then given a second penalty by referee Gavin Ward shortly before half-time when Filip Krovinovic was adjudged to have handled the ball.

But Albion goalkeeper Sam Johnstone was equal to Waghorn's second effort, diving at full stretch to his left.

The away side were then given a penalty of their own when Max Lowe fouled Matheus Pereira in the box, with forward Zohore sending Kelle Roos the wrong way to net a late equaliser.

Derby had won their past three matches against West Brom going into this game and they were good value for their early lead.

A win would have seen the Baggies rise to the top of the Championship table and they responded to going behind well, with Nathan Ferguson forcing a low save from Roos following a powerful solo run.

Darnell Furlong also went close for the visitors, heading narrowly wide of the near post from a corner midway through the first half.

Derby were given the perfect opportunity to double their advantage when Krovinovic handled the ball in the box - although replays showed it hit the midfielder's shoulder, with manager Bilic picking up a yellow card for his protests.

West Brom were nearly level moments after the penalty was saved as Roos denied Kenneth Zohore from 10 yards out.

Derby continued to trouble the visitors on the counter-attack in the second half, with Waghorn forcing a good stop from Johnstone on the turn, and Tom Lawrence seeing a low shot from long range sail narrowly wide.

The Rams looked to be on course for a well-deserved win until Pereira went down questionably under the challenge of Lowe, before Zohore converted from the spot.

Both sides could have won it in the closing stages, with Derby's Mason Bennett firing just wide of the far post and West Brom's Jake Livermore seeing an effort deflect over from seven yards out.

Bilic was then shown a second yellow card by referee Ward when Albion were not given a corner following Livermore's shot.

Derby County manager Phillip Cocu:

"One moment in a game can change the result for you and I'm really disappointed about this because I told the lads at half-time to be careful in the box: no holding, no crazy tackles.

"As a defender you have to stay on your feet. I haven't seen it but I don't care- if he stays on his feet, what can the referee do? Nothing. It's tough on us but that's why we don't have the three points.

"It's very disappointing. We got an early lead, started well and if he scores the second penalty I think victory is ours and even in the second half we created three really good opportunities to score but we couldn't get the second goal."

West Bromwich Albion manager Slaven Bilic:

"A lot of decisions I'm not happy about. I don't want to talk a lot about them but they affect my job and everybody that is part of the West Brom family so I can give my comments in a nice way and a polite way.

"Nothing personal, but I wasn't happy. For me, there were too many of them so I reacted a few times, for the penalty and the corner that wasn't given to us when it was an obvious deflection.

"Did I overreact? From their point of view I did but from my point of view I didn't. I will have to work on it and control myself. I will have to calm myself down a bit but I will always voice my opinion but I will never be rude and never be personal."
