Simon Jordan slams Tottenham star who plays ‘without a brain’ & also criticises James Maddison

Tottenham Hotspur have proven to be a very frustrating team this season.

One period of their campaign that summed up their brilliance and abjectness was their 4-0 win at Aston Villa, followed by a 3-0 defeat at Fulham.

On the one hand, you applaud Ange Postecoglou for the job he has done at Tottenham, especially after losing such a key figure like Harry Kane in the summer.

But, on the other, fans are annoyed and frustrated, especially when you lose the north London derby like they did.

All in all, it’s part of the process and the marmite-like figure Daniel Levy has to give this Tottenham team the time to progress, especially the man in the dugout.

Yes, those fans who have previously held up, or probably still do, ‘Levy out’ and ‘ENIC out’ banners will call for ambitious investment in the team this summer.

But the best thing Postecoglou can continue to do at Hotspur Way is improve the current players at his disposal.

Simon Jordan highlighted one James Maddison and how the playmaker ‘needs to get more consistent’, as he told talkSPORT (02/05/24 at 10:25 am).

But he also acknowledged that ‘better players’ need to come in, which the club tried to do when they signed Timo Werner on a loan deal.

However, Jordan wasn’t exactly complimentary about the German because he labelled him ‘the speed boat without a brain’.

“But Tottenham do need to, in my view, kick on and he (Postecoglou) needs better players,” said Jordan.

“Whether the speed boat without a brain, Timo Werner, gets replaced. Whether Kulusevki is a good enough player. Whether Pedro Porro is a good enough player. I think Maddison needs to get consistent.

“I think they need to buy players that know what winning things looks like, not good players that can give you an aesthetically appealing look.”

Should Tottenham sign Timo Werner permanently?

The 28-year-old is out for the remainder of the season and now talk will turn to whether Spurs should sign him for next season.

From his 13 Premier League matches, where he has played on the left-hand side, he has two goals and three assists.

Of course, you start to compare the speedster to that player who struggled during his spell at Chelsea, even though he won the Champions League.

Has there been a huge difference in his game since his return? The answer would be no. Does he suit Postecoglou’s style? Yes.

Should Spurs put money down for Werner? No. They are best focusing and putting their money elsewhere. It’s not like Levy is going to provide Chelsea-like money for the manager in the summer.
